What a joy it was to be invited back to the home of this family where I’d previously done the makeup for Jenny, Fiona’s sister, five years earlier. This was a wedding unlike anything I’d come across before but perfectly suited to Fiona and Stuart’s laidback style. They held the small ceremony in the front room of her parents’ house that had been in their family for generations with just an intimate gathering of immediate relatives and friends. This was followed by a meal at a nearby restaurant and a larger party at night with more friends invited to join the celebrations. I love it when people buck traditions and design the wedding day to suit their requirements.
Since Fiona doesn’t usually wear much makeup apart from lipstick we decided to go for a stronger lip (Bobbi Brown Rose Blossom) and keep everything else more muted for balance. Fiona prefers a very matte base so I used a long-lasting foundation and pressed powder in with a cotton pad to keep everything shine free. She wore a simple, pared down dress with a colourful flower crown, bright shrug and shoes which all worked really well together giving a boho vibe. I also did her sister Jenny’s makeup pictured in the blue satin dress, her mum dressed in navy and her mother-in-law. Thanks to Catching the Moments for these gorgeous shots from the day.
